When I answered the call, there was a short pause followed by a pre-recorded message beginning to play.
An Indian woman called me saying that my IP address is public and is somehow a problem. She wanted me to check my IP address right away, but I informed her that I was at work and unable to do so. I asked her to send me an email instead, and she abruptly hung up. After researching, I found out that having a public IP address is not an issue; her intentions remain unclear but seem suspicious.
I received a call from a number based in Bathurst. The caller sent a message in both English and Chinese, trying to pressure me into agreeing to something, which felt threatening. I strongly believe this is a scam and suggest that the authorities should take action to arrest and deport such individuals after they have served time.

During my call with this person, I could hear birds and children in the background, which made it sound unprofessional. The caller claimed to be from Visa/MasterCard security but wouldn't specify who they wanted to speak to, and after repeatedly asking for clarification, they hung up unexpectedly.
The caller claimed they were from PayPal, stating that $799 had been paid out and that they had already contacted my husband, who unfortunately does not have a PayPal account. This raised red flags for me, and I firmly believe this was a scam.
