    A woman (Indian accent) called be a couple of minutes ago, offering a free (?) solar panels appraisal.

    The call appeared to be from Adelaide, but apparently was from Western Australia.

    Had a missed call & Smart ph identified it as Suspected spam. However, I was curious so I searched in Google & into your website. Your location search pointed to a local business, so I was curious and I rang the number 0881023965 that had called me. There was a slight delay and female voice answered with an accent, said a different company name from what was quoted on your location identifier. She proceeded to sell solar panels. I said I'm not interested. She was respectful, thanked me and we ended the call.

    I searched the same number again in this site a few times, ReverseAU, and it identifies a different business and it's location each time.

    Am I misunderstanding how your site works or why does this happen in this way?

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
