1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms and Conditions of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the "User") and Reverseau, governing your access to and use of the services provided through the Reverseau website located at https://www.reverseau.com (the "Service" or "Platform"). These Terms apply to all individuals who visit, access, browse, or otherwise use any aspect of our Service, including but not limited to viewing phone number reports, submitting reviews, searching our database, or accessing any information, content, or materials made available through the Platform.
By accessing or using the Reverseau Service in any manner, you expressly acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety, together with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. Your use of the Service constitutes your conclusive acceptance of these Terms and creates a binding legal agreement between you and Reverseau. If you do not agree with any provision contained within these Terms, you must immediately cease all use of the Service and refrain from accessing the Platform. Your continued use of the Service following any modifications to these Terms shall constitute your acceptance of such modifications.
You further acknowledge and represent that you are at least eighteen (18) years of age and possess the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts under applicable law. If you are accessing or using the Service on behalf of an organisation, company, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind such entity to these Terms, and references to "you" shall include both you as an individual and the entity you represent.
2. Description of Service
Reverseau operates as a community-driven platform specifically designed to assist Australian residents in identifying unknown telephone callers and protecting themselves from potentially fraudulent, unwanted, or suspicious communications. The Service provides access to a searchable database of telephone numbers, accompanied by user-generated reports, ratings, and commentary regarding the nature and behaviour of callers associated with those numbers. Our primary focus centres on identifying and reporting scam telephone numbers, thereby creating a collective defence network that protects the Australian community from telecommunications fraud.
The information available through the Service is predominantly user-generated content, meaning it reflects the experiences, perceptions, and reports submitted by members of our community. Whilst we maintain quality standards and moderate submissions in accordance with our content policies, the Service functions fundamentally as a platform for information sharing rather than as a comprehensive verification service. Users contribute reports based on their personal experiences with specific telephone numbers, and these reports become accessible to other users seeking information about those numbers.
Reverseau is provided entirely free of charge to all users. We do not charge subscription fees, access fees, or any other monetary charges for the use of our Service. This commitment to free access reflects our belief that protection from telecommunications fraud should be universally accessible to all Australians, regardless of financial circumstances. However, you acknowledge that this free service model means we provide the Service on an "as available" basis, and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, discontinue, or restrict access to any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including but not limited to maintenance, technical difficulties, or strategic business decisions.
We reserve the right to introduce new features, modify existing functionality, alter the presentation or availability of content, or change the technical specifications of the Service without prior notice. We may also establish or modify user access limits, impose restrictions on certain features, or implement other measures we deem necessary to maintain the integrity, security, or functionality of the Platform. You acknowledge that we have no obligation to maintain any particular feature or functionality, and that temporary or permanent discontinuation of any aspect of the Service shall not constitute a breach of these Terms.
3. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities
Your use of the Service is conditional upon your compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws, regulations, and generally accepted online practices. You agree to use the Service in a responsible, lawful, and ethical manner that respects the rights of others and the integrity of the Platform. The following activities are expressly prohibited when using the Service, and engagement in any such activities may result in immediate termination of your access to the Platform, removal of your content, and potentially legal action:
Prohibited Technical Activities: You shall not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any portion of the Service, other users' accounts, or computer systems or networks connected to the Service through hacking, password mining, or any other means. You shall not probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or breach security or authentication measures. You shall not interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service, including but not limited to transmitting viruses, worms, Trojan horses, malware, or any other code of a destructive or disruptive nature. You shall not use any robot, spider, scraper, or other automated means to access the Service for any purpose without our express written permission.
Prohibited Content Activities: You shall not post, transmit, or otherwise make available through the Service any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable. You shall not impersonate any person or entity or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity. You shall not post content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other proprietary rights of any party. You shall not post unsolicited or unauthorised advertising, promotional materials, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of commercial solicitation.
Prohibited Use of Information: You shall not use information obtained from the Service for commercial purposes, including but not limited to selling, licensing, or otherwise exploiting such information. You shall not compile, aggregate, or otherwise use information from the Service to create databases, directories, or similar compilations for commercial use or distribution. You shall not use the Service to collect or harvest personal information about other users without their express consent. You shall not use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Service or interfere with any other party's use and enjoyment of the Service.
Reporting Standards: When submitting reports or reviews regarding telephone numbers, you shall provide information based on your genuine personal experience and honest assessment. You shall not submit false, misleading, or fabricated reports. You shall not submit reports for the purpose of harassing, defaming, or damaging the reputation of any individual or entity. You shall not submit multiple reports about the same number using different accounts or identities to artificially inflate ratings or create a false impression. You shall not use profanity, offensive language, or personal attacks in your reports. Whilst we respect freedom of expression and encourage detailed reporting of suspicious or unwanted calls, all submissions must adhere to standards of civil discourse and factual accuracy.
Reverseau reserves the right to investigate suspected violations of these Terms and to take appropriate action, which may include but is not limited to removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, reporting violations to law enforcement authorities, and pursuing civil or criminal legal remedies. We reserve the right to cooperate with legal authorities and third parties in investigating suspected criminal or civil wrongdoing.
4. User-Generated Content
Reverseau operates primarily as a platform for user-generated content, specifically telephone number reports, reviews, ratings, and commentary (collectively, "User Content"). You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in any original content you submit to the Service. However, by submitting User Content to Reverseau, you grant us certain rights necessary to operate, maintain, improve, and promote the Service.
Specifically, you hereby grant to Reverseau a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform, and publicly display your User Content in any media formats and through any media channels now known or hereafter developed. This licence includes the right to make your User Content available to other users of the Service, to incorporate your User Content into compilations or collective works, to modify or edit your User Content for clarity or brevity, and to use your User Content for promotional purposes in connection with the Service.
You represent and warrant that you possess all rights necessary to submit User Content and to grant the licences described above. You represent and warrant that your User Content does not infringe, violate, or misappropriate any third party's intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other personal or proprietary rights. You further represent and warrant that your User Content is accurate to the best of your knowledge and is based on your genuine personal experience with the telephone number about which you are reporting.
Whilst you retain ownership of your User Content, you acknowledge and agree that Reverseau has no obligation to compensate you for your submissions. You expressly waive any right to receive payment, royalties, fees, or other compensation in connection with our use of your User Content as authorised by these Terms. You further acknowledge that we have no obligation to acknowledge your contribution or authorship when displaying or using your User Content.
You understand and agree that Reverseau exercises the right, but not the obligation, to review, screen, edit, move, or remove User Content at any time and for any reason, with or without notice. We may remove User Content that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms, potentially infringes third-party rights, poses security or technical concerns, receives complaints from other users, or for any other reason we deem appropriate. The removal of User Content does not constitute an admission of liability or wrongdoing on the part of Reverseau, nor does our decision not to remove particular content constitute an endorsement of that content.
You acknowledge that Reverseau does not pre-screen User Content before it appears on the Service. Consequently, you may encounter User Content that you find offensive, inaccurate, or objectionable. You use the Service and rely upon User Content entirely at your own risk. Reverseau expressly disclaims any responsibility or liability for User Content, including but not limited to its accuracy, completeness, reliability, or appropriateness. The views and opinions expressed in User Content are those of the individual authors and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of Reverseau.
5. Intellectual Property Rights
The Reverseau Service, including but not limited to its design, layout, look, appearance, graphics, text, software, code, functionality, and all other elements (collectively, "Reverseau Content"), is owned by Reverseau and is protected by Australian and international intellectual property laws, including copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other proprietary rights. All rights, title, and interest in and to Reverseau Content remain exclusively with Reverseau. No rights are granted to you other than a limited licence to access and use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Reverseau grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes. This licence includes the right to view and access information available through the Service, to search our database of telephone numbers and reports, and to submit your own reports in accordance with the guidelines established herein. This licence does not include any right to download, copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or otherwise exploit any Reverseau Content except as expressly permitted by these Terms.
You may print or download portions of Reverseau Content solely for your personal, non-commercial use, provided that you maintain all copyright, trademark, and other proprietary notices contained in the original content. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, or transmit any Reverseau Content without our prior written consent. You may not use any Reverseau Content for commercial purposes or in any manner that suggests an affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship by Reverseau without our express written permission.
The Reverseau name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of Reverseau. You may not use such marks without our prior written permission. Other names, logos, and brands appearing on the Service may be trademarks of their respective owners, who may or may not be affiliated with, connected to, or sponsored by Reverseau. Reference to any products, services, processes, or other information by trade name, trademark, manufacturer, supplier, or otherwise does not constitute or imply endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation by Reverseau.
Any unauthorised use of Reverseau Content or infringement of our intellectual property rights constitutes a material breach of these Terms and may violate applicable copyright, trademark, and other laws. In the event of such violation, your right to use the Service will terminate immediately, and you must destroy any copies you have made of Reverseau Content. We reserve the right to pursue all available legal remedies for intellectual property infringement, including but not limited to injunctive relief, monetary damages, and recovery of legal costs.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
Your use of the Reverseau Service is entirely at your own risk. The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permissible under applicable law, Reverseau expressly disclaims all warranties, representations, and conditions of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and those arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.
Reverseau makes no warranty, representation, or guarantee regarding the accuracy, reliability, completeness, currentness, or usefulness of any content available through the Service, including but not limited to User Content. We do not warrant that the information available through the Service is accurate, complete, or current, or that it will meet your requirements or expectations. The Service contains information submitted by users based on their personal experiences and perceptions, which may be subjective, inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. Reverseau does not verify the accuracy of User Content and expressly disclaims any responsibility for its reliability or truthfulness.
Reverseau makes no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. We do not warrant that defects will be corrected, that the Service or the servers that make it available are free of viruses or other harmful components, or that the use of the Service will meet your requirements. Technical difficulties, maintenance activities, security incidents, or other factors may cause temporary or permanent interruptions to the Service. You acknowledge that such interruptions may occur and agree that Reverseau shall bear no liability for any such interruptions or their consequences.
Reverseau makes no warranty regarding the results that may be obtained from the use of the Service or the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through the Service. Any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the Service is accessed at your own discretion and risk, and you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer system or loss of data that results from the download of any such material.
No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from Reverseau or through the Service shall create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms. If you are dissatisfied with the Service or with these Terms, your sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue using the Service.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Reverseau, its directors, officers, employees, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, successors, and assigns (collectively, the "Reverseau Parties") shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, loss of business opportunity, cost of substitute services, or any other intangible losses, regardless of the legal theory upon which such claim is based (whether contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and regardless of whether the Reverseau Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Without limiting the foregoing, the Reverseau Parties shall not be liable for any damages arising from or relating to: (a) your reliance on information obtained through the Service, including User Content; (b) errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies in content available through the Service; (c) personal injury or property damage resulting from your use of the Service; (d) unauthorised access to or use of our servers or any personal information stored therein; (e) interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service; (f) bugs, viruses, Trojan horses, or similar harmful code transmitted to or through the Service by third parties; (g) errors or omissions in any content or for any loss or damage incurred as a result of the use of any content posted, emailed, transmitted, or otherwise made available through the Service; (h) User Content or the defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of any third party; or (i) any interactions or dealings with other users of the Service.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, the Reverseau Parties' liability shall be limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law. In no event shall the total aggregate liability of the Reverseau Parties for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service exceed fifty Australian dollars (AUD $50.00), regardless of the number of claims or the legal theories upon which such claims are based.
You acknowledge and agree that the limitations of liability set forth in this Section 7 are fundamental elements of the agreement between you and Reverseau, and that Reverseau would not provide the Service without these limitations. These limitations shall apply even if any limited remedy specified in these Terms is found to have failed of its essential purpose.
8. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, applications, services, or resources that are not owned or controlled by Reverseau. These links are provided solely for your convenience and information. Reverseau has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, terms of use, or practices of any third-party websites, applications, services, or resources. We do not warrant or endorse and do not assume any responsibility or liability for any third-party content, products, or services.
You acknowledge and agree that Reverseau shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with your use of or reliance on any content, goods, or services available on or through any third-party websites, applications, or resources. Your interactions with third-party websites, applications, or services, including payment transactions and the delivery of goods or services, are solely between you and such third parties. You should review the applicable terms and policies of any third-party websites or services that you access through links provided on our Service.
If you decide to access any third-party websites, applications, or services linked from the Service, you do so entirely at your own risk and subject to the terms and conditions of use for such websites, applications, or services. We strongly advise you to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any third-party websites or services that you visit.
9. Modifications to Terms
Reverseau reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, amend, or update these Terms at any time without prior notice. When we make changes to these Terms, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. Material changes will take effect immediately upon posting to the Service, unless otherwise specified. Your continued use of the Service following the posting of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by the modified Terms.
It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically for any changes. If you object to any modifications to these Terms, your sole recourse is to cease using the Service. We recommend that you review these Terms each time you access the Service to ensure you understand the terms and conditions that apply to your use.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, no modification to these Terms shall apply to any dispute between you and Reverseau that arose prior to the effective date of such modification. The version of these Terms in effect at the time you use the Service shall govern your use of the Service at that time.
10. Termination
These Terms shall remain in full force and effect while you use the Service. Reverseau reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate, suspend, or restrict your access to all or any part of the Service at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without notice, and without liability to you or any third party. Reasons for such termination, suspension, or restriction may include but are not limited to: (a) violation of these Terms or any applicable law or regulation; (b) discontinuance or material modification of the Service or any part thereof; (c) unexpected technical or security issues or problems; (d) extended periods of inactivity; (e) engagement in fraudulent or illegal activities; or (f) other conduct that Reverseau believes, in its sole discretion, is harmful to Reverseau, other users, or third parties.
You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by ceasing to access the Platform. Upon termination of your access to the Service, whether by you or by Reverseau, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. However, all provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including but not limited to ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnification obligations, limitations of liability, dispute resolution provisions, and these provisions regarding termination and survival.
Reverseau shall not be liable to you or any third party for any termination, suspension, or restriction of your access to the Service. Following termination, Reverseau reserves the right to delete any User Content or other materials you submitted to the Service, although such content may persist in backup copies for a reasonable period of time. Reverseau has no obligation to retain or provide you with copies of any User Content following termination.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of law principles. The application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is expressly excluded.
You irrevocably agree that the courts of Australia shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with these Terms or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims). You irrevocably waive any objection to the venue of any such courts and any claim that such courts are an inconvenient forum. Nothing in this clause shall limit the right of Reverseau to take proceedings against you in any other court of competent jurisdiction, nor shall the taking of proceedings in any one or more jurisdictions preclude the taking of proceedings in any other jurisdictions, whether concurrently or not, to the extent permitted by the law of such other jurisdiction.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be modified and interpreted to accomplish the objectives of such provision to the greatest extent possible under applicable law, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The failure of Reverseau to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision unless acknowledged and agreed to by Reverseau in writing.
12. General Provisions
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other legal notices or policies published by us on the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and Reverseau concerning your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements, negotiations, representations, and proposals, whether written or oral, between you and Reverseau relating to the subject matter herein. No waiver of any term or condition set forth in these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or condition or a waiver of any other term or condition, and any failure by Reverseau to assert a right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
You may not assign, transfer, or delegate these Terms or your rights and obligations hereunder without the prior written consent of Reverseau. Any attempted assignment, transfer, or delegation in violation of this provision shall be null and void. Reverseau may freely assign, transfer, or delegate these Terms and its rights and obligations hereunder without restriction. Subject to the foregoing, these Terms shall bind and inure to the benefit of the parties, their successors, and permitted assigns.
The section headings in these Terms are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect. Where these Terms use the term "including," it means "including but not limited to." These Terms were originally drafted in English. In the event of any conflict between the English version and any translation, the English version shall prevail.
If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints regarding these Terms or the Service, please contact us through the information provided on our website. We will endeavour to respond to all reasonable inquiries in a timely manner.
