This number called me, but I didn’t even hear a ringtone. Definitely smells like a scam!
I had a call from (08) 7119 7781 last Friday and the phone said it was SPAM so I blocked it and reported it as SPAM.
This number called today - scratchy phone line, delay in them asnswering telling me they were from "Visa and Mastercard Fraud" so immediate alarm bells. Hung up immediately.
Almost certainly a scam number. I received a missed call from this number two days ago and let it go to voicemail; the voicemail was a short 'hello?' with an Indian accent on a scratchy phone line, indicating an autodialler from a scam call centre (they don't know they are on voicemail due to the autodialler taking a few seconds to connect them). I received two scam calls today, one of which I picked up - this was an Indian man on a very poor phone line who claimed to be from Telstra; the line was so poor he terminated the call before I did. I then received another call that went to voicemail (again, they left a short 'hello?' message) from 08 7119 7786, which is almost identical to the above number. The listing for 08 7119 7786 notes it is a known phishing scam number, from which scammers have claimed to be calling from Vodafone.
Major telcos do not cold-call on scratchy phone lines using autodiallers. Most likely an Indian scam call centre is drawing from a bank of consecutive, banked numbers. Don't be fooled.
