I was contacted by an automated scam call claiming that there was an unusual transaction on my Visa or Mastercard. The call instructed me to press 1 if I authorized the transaction or 2 if I did not. I advise against pressing any numbers, as this is a scam. I've already blocked the number, but I anticipate receiving more scam calls in the future. Thanks, Optus!
The caller alleged that there was an unauthorized transaction on my credit card, which I believe is a fraudulent claim.
When I answered this call, there was a brief silence before an automated message began. It stated, "Hello customer, this is your Visa OR Mastercard company, and you have money owing." The message was recorded in Australian English, but it's concerning that they mentioned both Visa and Mastercard in such a vague way, indicating a possible scam.
This number called me claiming to be from Commonwealth Bank regarding my card. I believe this is a scam call, and I recommend others be wary if they receive similar calls.
