An individual contacted me claiming there were issues with my computer that required their assistance. I mentioned that my son could help when he got home, but they insisted their help was necessary. I ended the call, as I've encountered similar scams in the past.
The caller claims they can help secure your internet, but I consider this an absolute scam. It makes me wonder how low these people must feel in their lives to resort to such tactics.
The caller mentioned wanting to discuss Telstra internet services. However, the person's accent was quite thick, leading me to initially think they were referencing an incident involving Telstra. Since I do not use Telstra as my internet provider, I decided to hang up.
A woman claiming to represent Telstra called me, stating that my IP address had been altered by someone else. This raised my suspicions as it seemed like a tactic to gain my personal information.
I received a call from someone claiming to be from Telstra, stating that my internet security had been compromised on my mobile phone. They repeatedly called me from different numbers and were very persistent in their attempts to get a response from me.
Caller claiming to be from Cyber watch and that (my 90yo father's) bank account had been hacked. He must have been convincing as dad was on his way to the bank to withdraw $10.000 and deposit into another (the scammers) account. Luckily, he called me before handing over the money - which was recredited to his account.
Community reports are retained as historical safety signals within the Reverseau telecommunications safety dataset and may reflect different experiences over time.
