When I answered this call, no one spoke to me directly, but I could hear background noise that sounded like an offshore call center. I am certain this is a scam.
I received a call at 9:45 PM on Easter Monday from this number, which I found quite unusual. They did not leave a message, so I think it's a scam. Based on the multiple complaints I've seen, I recommend blocking this number.
Called me yesterday (28/03/2024,14:55 Sydney time with DST in effect). The phone call App on my phone flagged it as a Spam call so I didn't answer. Went to Voicemail. No message left.
I received a call yesterday (28/03/2024, at 14:55, Sydney time, with Daylight Saving Time in effect). My phone's call filtering app identified it as a spam call, so I did not answer it. They did not leave a voicemail.
The caller rang only a couple of times, and since I didn’t recognize the number, I chose not to answer. They did not leave a message. After checking this number online, I found several other reports indicating that it is likely a scam number.
I received a call yesterday from a number claiming to be from the Australian Cyber Security team, stating that my phone had been compromised. I found this suspicious and hung up immediately.
The caller pretended to be from DHL, stating that a delivery was being redirected. This is clearly a scam and quite unimaginative.
When I answered the call and asked, "Can I help you?" the person on the other end immediately hung up. This feels suspicious and is probably a telemarketer or a scammer trying to avoid conversation.
The caller claimed to be from the Visa/Mastercard security department, reporting a $900 charge on my credit card for cryptocurrency that occurred 30 minutes prior. When I asked how I could verify their identity, the caller hung up on me.
They knew my name and said they were from Amazon. Asked if I had an android or apple iPhone and that someone was trying to make a purchase and made a fake account under my name, told them I couldn’t hear them properly as there was too much noise in the background and they hung up.
I received a call from someone claiming to be from Telstra. They said I was having internet issues because my previous private setting is now public and mentioned something about my IP address. I informed them that I am not a Telstra customer and that my internet is functioning fine. They hung up immediately after this!
I missed a call from this number and, not finding it listed anywhere, called back. There was no answer and no message left, and after about 15 seconds, the call dropped, so I suspect it was a scam.
Scam - asked if I was owner of National Broadband Network and asked me to do speedtest. Beware!!
Not on contact list. Did not answer no voicemail left. Scam.
Picked up the call, it was an overseas call centre asking strange questions. Hang up and blocked the number.
Call purported to be from PayPal reporting an attempted purchase of 2 apple gift cards for $800 odd and asking me to press 1 if this was not legit and 2 if it was.
When I had pressed 1 the message did not change. I pressed the speaker button on my handset and a female voice said Hello and hung up.
When I tried to return the call, the number seemed engaged.
