    The caller claimed to represent an energy company, but I am skeptical of their legitimacy.

    Scam call. When you answer the phone - the caller just hangs up without saying anything.

    Called this number and it claimed to be an electricity provider comparison service. I am extremely careful on releasing my phone number and I have not agreed to being contacted as was claimed by the person that answered when I called. They knew my name which is worrying as it indicate that they may be using illegally obtained identification data or they received it from the very few sites that I am forced to provide it (ie govt,, banks). In regards to the service they claim to offer we do not live in a major city so there is only one provider. They are so fake that they didn't know this.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
