I responded to a Gumtree advertisement through this WhatsApp number (+63 949 704 5028). Despite my inquiries already being answered in the ad description, the potential scammer continues to ask multiple questions and has offered to pay using a courier service.
I was contacted by someone named J Groos using phone number +63 9497045028 which is from the Philippines. They found my advertisement on Gumtree and responded via WhatsApp.
I received a message from this number on WhatsApp: +62 857-8565-1628. The sender asked me to ship something to Devonport, Tasmania, which seemed suspicious.
A person named J Groos contacted me via WhatsApp regarding an item I had listed on Gumtree. They asked many questions about the item and appeared to be legitimate. They offered to pay through AusPost Secure, but sent me a payment link that was in Croatian. I attempted to process the payment, but it failed, luckily because I had blocked international transactions. I believe J Groos is a scammer!!!!
I want to report that a scammer using the name J Groos is operating with the phone number 0403 556 985.
Today, I received messages on WhatsApp from someone pretending to be interested in purchasing my son's cricket gear that I posted on Gumtree. They were asking about arranging a courier pick-up. Thank you to everyone who gave me a heads-up about this!
Scamming via Gumtree! beware.
