Caller ID says "frosted peanut crunchies". I googled that but there doesn't seem to be any company by that name, and another review says that calling the number (never call em back!!) brings up another name. So that's got to be spoofed caller ID like the scammers always use.

Anyway, even if it *was* a real company by that name, they're ignoring the Do Not Call Register. So that's how you know it's not a legitimate Australian business - those ones do check the DNC Register.

This page says the number was searched 1380 times in the last 30 days! That's a clear sign of a scam number. I know it definitely is. They've called on this number before and I answered once (usually I don't if not in my contacts list) and it was the "Levitate" scam, offering to do a "superannuation health check" but in reality they just want your super account details to try and steal your life savings.

Have called many times. Other than that time I block or ignore. This time I rejected the call after two rings, accidentally, when I meant to simply silence the ringer and let it ring out. If you block a call they get an Engaged message and take that as a cue to call back later. But since I rejected the call they immediately started calling back on other numbers.

What I don't understand is this - they can tell when someone knows they're a fake caller. So why do they keep trying that same person again and again, even though that person is not going to fall for it? Even if they use different numbers and get them to answer, then as soon as they speak that person knows it's a scammer and is not going to believe them. It just trains that person not to trust incoming calls.

I've done better recently by ignoring the calls instead of blocking or rejecting them. It's all automated, so if the call is blocked their database records the number was "engaged", which means they will try again later. But as soon as I let it ring out, the calls went from 3 a day to once a week, because with no engaged message it doesn't trigger another call.

If they're calling you all the time it means their call history thinks "this guy will pick up and talk to us, so let's keep trying". You want them to look at the data and decide, there's no point calling.

Haven't had a scam call for a while.

But today, I was ringing around for car service quote from legitimate business' using my land-line.

1 hour later, this number rang my land-line number - which no-one knows.

So I guess business numbers are being scanned somehow.

Flagged by phone as a spam call so I didn't answer. This page says over 900 people searched for this number in the last 30 days and it seems to be running at 200 to 300 a day, that's a sure sign of scammers. Don't answer, definitely do not talk to them. It just goes on a database to show "this guy will pick up and talk to us" so you'll only guarantee they call again.
