An Investigation into 0469 317 462

The emergence of phone scams has made many Australians wary of unknown numbers. One such number, 0469 317 462, has sparked concern among users who reported receiving suspicious calls. Classified as a suspicious number, this call claimed to be from Telstra, which raised immediate red flags for many.

What Happened?

On 17 October 2023, a user reported receiving an automated call from this number, featuring a robotic voice warning that their Telstra service was about to be interrupted. The call further instructed them to press a number for language options, which is a common tactic used by scammers to engage potential victims.

Why is This Number Suspicious?

Firstly, the nature of the call—a generic recording rather than a personalised communication—hints at a potential scam. Legitimate companies typically avoid automated messages for sensitive issues, preferring to deal with customers directly. Moreover, the subsequent attempt to call back the number resulted in the message that the number was either disconnected or not in service. These signs strongly suggest fraudulent activity.

How to Handle Calls from 0469 317 462

  • Don't engage: If you receive a call from this number, it’s best to hang up immediately. Do not press any buttons, as this could lead to further unwanted calls.
  • Report the call: Consider reporting it to your mobile carrier or the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to help combat phone scams.
  • Use Reverse Phone Lookup: When in doubt, use a service like Reverseau to investigate any unknown number. This can provide peace of mind and insight into who is trying to contact you.

As Australians, it is crucial to remain vigilant against such suspicious calls that could compromise personal information or financial security. Stay informed and keep communication lines open within your community about phone scams to foster a safer environment for everyone.

About This Report

This page is part of the Reverseau Scam Intelligence Database, a community-driven dataset maintained by Reverseau since 2014. The database documents caller behaviour across Australian phone numbers based on first-hand user experiences.

Each entry is generated when individuals who received calls or messages from a number submit a report through our review form. Reports include a caller safety rating (1–5 scale) and a written account of the interaction. All submissions are moderated before publication.

The safety rating shown on this page reflects the collective assessment of 0469 317 462 by real users. It measures perceived caller risk, not the quality of this page. A low rating indicates that reporters consider this number likely to be associated with scam or spam activity.
