Identifying 0426 119 390: A Suspicious SMS Scam

The phone number 0426 119 390 has recently garnered attention due to user reports suggesting it is linked to fraudulent activity. Specifically, this number has been associated with SMS messages impersonating Australia Post. In recent instances, individuals received messages at unreasonable hours, such as 4:51 am, claiming delivery issues and requesting action without a valid tracking number.

Understanding the Scam

The message purportedly sent from this number states, "AusPost: Delivery tried on 12th June [NOT A DELIVERY DAY], no one present. Parcel awaits pickup at post office." This type of scam, known as "smishing" (SMS phishing), attempts to mislead recipients into providing personal information by creating a sense of urgency. The absence of a tracking number further flags this communication as suspicious, prompting recipients to be wary.

How to Deal with Suspicious SMS

  • Do Not Respond: Avoid replying to the message or clicking on any links provided within it.
  • Verify with Official Sources: If you believe a message might be legitimate, directly contact AusPost or relevant service providers using verified contact information found on their official websites.
  • Report the Scam: You can report such incidents to organisations like ScamWatch and the Australia Post Complaints department, helping to alert others and prevent further scams.

About This Report

This page is part of the Reverseau Scam Intelligence Database, a community-driven dataset maintained by Reverseau since 2014. The database documents caller behaviour across Australian phone numbers based on first-hand user experiences.

Each entry is generated when individuals who received calls or messages from a number submit a report through our review form. Reports include a caller safety rating (1–5 scale) and a written account of the interaction. All submissions are moderated before publication.

The safety rating shown on this page reflects the collective assessment of 0426 119 390 by real users. It measures perceived caller risk, not the quality of this page. A low rating indicates that reporters consider this number likely to be associated with scam or spam activity.
