I chose not to answer this call. After checking the comments from other users, I realized this is a scam call. I immediately blocked the number and appreciate the warnings shared by others.
I received a call from what sounded like an overseas number with some delay. The person claimed to be from BT Roll Reach, but due to their heavy accent, I'm not entirely sure. They informed me that there's a problem with my internet line and that they were calling to help. I recognize this as a scam, so I hung up immediately.
I received a recorded message claiming that there was a $1,000 purchase made on Amazon and instructed me to press 1 to speak to them regarding the issue. I hung up immediately as this seemed suspicious.
The caller contacted me on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 1:00 PM. Based on other reports on Reverse AU, this number belongs to a telemarketing scammer who has been reported active since early December 2021. I have since blocked, deleted, and reported the number.
