Almost every day I receive a call from Wellconnect Utility Group (that is what they are calling themselves this month). I answer and after a wait I get “hello how are you today I am calling about your electricity” usually they don’t mention their company name, I have to draw that out of them. When I ask for their ABN or ACN I am told they don’t need to have one. On one occasion they said the call was being monitored for quality control purposes, the caller repeatedly talked over me and when I asked for their ABN I was told “listen bas…d you get fu…d with this ABN sh*t and hung up. If you call them back they have a clever answering message in an Aussie accent “we called you today about some great deals“ never mentioning the name Wellconnect as no doubt they have other scams under other assumed names going on.
The Wellconnect name has been ripped off from a real company to make their calls sound legitimate. They are calling from India but the way they are set up suggests they have someone on the inside here in Australia helping them out. Don’t give them anything!
I've blocked this scamming number numerous times but some how it still calls, I think this number is hiding another one associated to it.. That is displayed number is not actual one calling.
Calls repeatedly but leaves no message.
Not sure whether this is scam or not - regardless, they are calling (apparently) from 'Wellconnect'. Indian accent, told me she was calling from in Australia and her name was 'Emma Smith'.
She continually talked over me while I was trying to ask her how she got my number as I'm on a 'do not call' register. Also not located in Victoria. Also not the bill payer. Kept trying to insist they are calling from a legitimate 'data list' of numbers. Had my nickname, and not any name that I would use for when I register for utilites even if I was the bill payer. Is there no where in Australia that handles these type of intrusive and incessant cold calls? Imagine if this was people at your house all day long knocking and trying to push pamphlets through your door? Its the same thing.
Still call though blocked on phone!
