Some African guy called me to tell me that he was from a fraud department from a financial institution. They dealt in cryptocurrency scams. He told me that he had just been given a seized computer by the police and was asked to clean up the files on this seized computer. The guy claimed his name to be David Schneider. He told me that there were many files on this seized computer that they had seized from a Scammer. I told him I have no cryptocurrency to which he replied a scammer may have stolen my identity. I questioned him as I do not believe the police would have handed him a computer that was seized. He told me that this was an urgent matter and I needed to follow his instructions. The mail who alleged his name to be David told me I had to follow his instructions in order to clear my name. I told him that I was happy to speak to the police officer that had handed him this seized computer. David then became extremely aggressive and told me I had to give him my name address drivers license number bank account number in order to clear my name. Again I told him the police could call me and I will deal with them directly. He told me it was not a police matter as he had the seized computer in his hands I told him I did not believe him as I have never dealt in cryptocurrency. He told me in order for him to close my case, I had to give my full name residential address bank account details.

I could clearly see this was a scam and he was very verbally aggressive and refused to give him my details and then told him I wish to disengage with him and was going to hang up and block his number. He told me if I blocked his number he would call me again and again and again from other numbers until he got these details.

Obviously, I then hung up and BLOCKED.

Some guy just called and addressed me by my name claimed to be calling from some fraud department of some crypto currency place.

I couldn’t work out what company he alleged to be from by he had an African accent and said his name was David Snider.

“David” advised he was going through a seized computer and found my name and my account details. I told him this was impossible as I have never used cryptocurrency.

He then said that my identity must have been stolen.

He then said there was a massive folder on this seized computer which had my personal details including address; bank details; crypto accounts.

I could hear other African accented males yelling in the background.

David wanted me to assist him in closing my account by providing my address and bank account details.

I said I thought you said my address and bank account were on this alleged seized computer.

He then started to get a bit aggressive, and I hear a “click” on the phone line.

I then just decided to hang up and blocked the scammer’s number.

Same scammer just tried it on me!

I too got a call from “David Schneider”

“David” was calling me to advised he had the job of contacting the list of people whose names were in a folder on a seized computer belonging to a scammer. He just wanted to see if I still held my crypto account. Said I have never owned one and he replied by saying the scammer must have opened it in my name. He then said that as I didn’t have any knowledge of my crypto account, I had obviously been scammed.

He told me in order to remove my details from this seized computer, I would just have to simply close the account. By doing that, it would “also assist him in decreasing his workload”

(I knew this to be a scammer calling & told him I work enough hours a week and didn’t have the energy to assist someone else - such as him - in completing their workload. I don’t think he appreciated that haha)

He said “ok let’s get your name off this computer and your details out of the hands of scammers”

I said “I thought you said you had the scammer’s computer?”

He then said “to do this - we need to confirm your residential address”

I said “well you can tell me what you have and I will confirm if that is my address”

He said “it doesn’t work that way, you need to tell me where you reside”

I again told him I would confirm or deny the address he has in front of him.

He then started to get a bit aggressive and said he needed to put me on hold.

I then hung up and blocked.

I had a missed call from this number.

Thanks to the previous report I am glad I missed this scammer.

SCAM ALERT!!!!

I just got a call from a guy on this number saying there was a fraud investigation going on and I was a victim. Claimed his name to be “David Schneider” and he said the crypto account of mine had been hacked. I said I didn’t have crypto. He said that was good - but there was still actions to take as I had been “scammed” and someone had obviously stolen my identity and for them to clear my name, I had to go through some steps.

I asked him where he was calling from and he said some digital company which I couldn’t make out. Male had African accent that appeared a bit muddled as he at some stages sounded British.

I reminded him again I haven’t dealt in crypto and he said ”there’s a whole folder of stuff here that needs only you to close the matter”

I said “what folder are you talking about?”

Then he claimed there has been a computer seized there were 100’s of names of people who had been “scammed in the past” who’s names are on this seized PC.

He said I would have to go through a process of what I would generally have to do if I was closing a bank account.

I could hear other males in the background saying same sort of things.

He said he would be putting me on hold and we could then commence with my bank details.

I then hung up and thought how sloppy these scammers are getting by using the words “scammer” in their script as this guy was in no way convincing.
