Classification of the Number

Based on the user reviews we gathered, we can classify this phone number as suspicious, with strong indications of a scam:

  • Nature of the Calls: Reviewers reported phrases like “final notification” and requests to press buttons in both English and Chinese, suggesting a robocall script designed to trigger responses from individuals who may not be astutely aware of fraudulent practices.
  • Unsolicited Nature: Most users stated they never answered the calls from this number or those that are similar. The frequent missed connection and voicemail left thereafter indicate a strategy to lure curious individuals into engaging further, potentially revealing personal information.
  • Use of Public Response Fears: The mention of an “Epidemic Emergency Notice” preys on public fears, especially during times of health crises, which scammers can exploit to gain compliance from anxious individuals.
  • Confusing Messaging: The content of the voicemails varied and lacked clarity, instilling a sense of urgency without providing legitimate information, which is a common tactic used in scams.

Scam call. From Chinese Embassy asking to press 1 for..2 for... Do not answer.

Scam

"You have reached Basic technologies" It sounds like an American hotline. Press 1 if you would like to open an account, press 2 if you have an existing account.... No matter the option, I was placed on hold.

However, when the voicemail played, it was asking if I was a Chinese national or an international student - with a completely different robot voice.

I have received 10 calls from 10 different numbers, of which this is one. The caller lets the phone ring for 3 rings, then hangs up and leaves a message2 text, as follows: ‘please submit case one in English and case 2 in Chinese Hal Zhou Tao Dan Xing Ji Tong’. The messages aren’t exactly the same. Today’s message says ‘ Not being ignored. The final notification will be made today if you need more information, press one in English or two in Chinese.’ I find all this very unnerving. Spam is one thing but this is getting a bit too assertive. I have no idea what it means.

Scam

I received a call from this number, but they didn't leave a message when I didn't answer. I generally do not respond to unsolicited calls, and this also feels like a scam attempt.

The voicemail I received indicated that it was an "Epidemic Emergency Notice," instructing me to press 1 for English or 2 for Chinese. This seems suspicious and unnecessary.

About This Report

This page is part of the Reverseau Scam Intelligence Database, a community-driven dataset maintained by Reverseau since 2014. The database documents caller behaviour across Australian phone numbers based on first-hand user experiences.

Each entry is generated when individuals who received calls or messages from a number submit a report through our review form. Reports include a caller safety rating (1–5 scale) and a written account of the interaction. All submissions are moderated before publication.

The safety rating shown on this page reflects the collective assessment of (03) 7303 7562 by real users. It measures perceived caller risk, not the quality of this page. A low rating indicates that reporters consider this number likely to be associated with scam or spam activity.
