When I answered the call, I pretended to be with the federal police and asked which department they needed to speak to. They immediately hung up, which was amusing.
This number called me late in the morning with no message left. I believe it is a scam caller attempting to extort money from innocent victims. The ongoing issue seems to be fueled by a lack of action from the government. The call may have originated from India, although there are multiple potential sources of such criminal activity, including right here in Australia.
I received a call from someone instructing me to download an app called AnyDesk. They warned that if I did not download it, there would be no responsibilities taken by "Telstra" in case I faced any security issues, which raises red flags about a possible scam.
