Understanding the Call from 03 6156 4313

The phone number 03 6156 4313 has raised red flags among users, primarily due to reports of suspicious telemarketing practices. Typically identified as a dubious call, many recipients have received offers that seem too good to be true. In this case, multiple users reported being contacted by someone claiming to represent Telstra, one of Australia's leading telecommunications companies.

Details from User Reports

One particular account noted a caller indicated that the recipient's number had a good billing history, supposedly qualifying them for a discount on services. However, the recipient identified as part of the Optus network and sceptically engaged in the conversation. The initial call appeared to originate from Ballarat, but after a poor call connection, the caller allegedly shifted their location to Gretna. This inconsistency further hinted at the possibility of a spoofed caller ID, commonly used by scammers. Notably, the caller dropped the call when the recipient identified their lack of Telstra service.

Classification: Suspicious Telemarketer

This classification of 03 6156 4313 as a suspicious telemarketer is based on the following indicators:

  • False Representation: Users reported the caller claiming to represent Telstra while having no valid connection to the company.
  • Location Inconsistency: The call's origin changed, suggesting that the number may be spoofed, a common tactic among telemarketing scams.
  • Customer Response: The caller hung up when faced with information that contradicted their claims, indicating they were not genuinely seeking to assist the user.

How to Handle Calls from This Number

If you receive a call from 03 6156 4313, it is advisable to exercise caution:

  • Do Not Share Personal Information: Never divulge personal or financial information to unsolicited callers.
  • Verify Before Engaging: If the caller claims to be from a legitimate company, hang up and call the company directly using known contact information.
  • Report Suspicious Calls: Use services like Reverseau or Reverse Phone Lookup Australia to research suspicious numbers and add your report to help others.

In today’s world, being informed is your best defence against unsolicited calls. Stay vigilant, and remember, if an offer sounds too good to be true, it often is.

Calller said they were from Telstra and that my number had a good billing history so they were offering a discount. My service is part of the Optus family...

Initial call said the caller was from Ballarat, call connection was terrible so the guy on the phone said he'll immediately call back. Once the call connected again, the call location switched to Gretna, seems like a spoofed connection.

Caller hung up when I told them I wasn't a Telstra customer.
