I missed a call from this number, and when I returned the call, it was answered by an automated woman's voice speaking in French, which I found very odd and concerning.
I received a missed call from this number. When I called back, I was met with a recorded message that had a French accent, which seemed unusual.
I accidentally called back and heard a recorded message, which sounded like it was in French or influenced by the French language. The message mentioned something about a "student epidemic," but it made no sense, so I deleted it and blocked the number.
This scam call they spoke in Chinese and then English and ask you to press 1. But I delete this.
The call went straight to my voicemail, where I received a recorded message. I heard part of it instructing me to "press (number) to listen to the message in English or (another number) for Chinese." After that, a fast-paced Chinese recorded message followed. It sounded like a scam, so I deleted the voicemail and blocked the number immediately.
I let the call go to voicemail. The message was similar to what others have reported, mentioning an "Academic Emergency" and directing me to press 1 for English and 2 for Chinese, which raised my suspicion about it being a scam.
A message was left indicating a warning about an epidemic, specifically targeting Chinese individuals, international students, and Australians. I am uncertain how this message applies to others, so I decided to block the number.
