Received yet another call saying I've committed tax fraud, and tax evasion. They keep leaving messages on my answering machine, must be serious, as they don't know my name!. Rang them back and told them I have reported them to the authorities.
I got a call with the same message and knowing it was a scam I tried to call this number back to see what I could find out about the hoax (what info they were trying to get etc). The person that answered said that he has been getting harassed! I feel sorry for him if he isn't involved as he would probably be getting slammed with a number of calls!
Same deal with me - arrived home to a message on my land line from the "tax office" - male with an accent that spoke quickly and very difficult to understand..... Not what you would expect from the tax office.
Scared me to death - I thought what could I have done. I'll ring the Tax office and advise them.
Yep, me too. I hung up on one call yesterday because I suspected it was a scam, but then today, they left a message on the answering machine. As this was a bit unusual, I googled the number he left and found this website confirming my suspicions. They do sound scary, so I bet they have sucked a few people in. If you ever were up for tax fraud, the ATO would send a letter for sure.

Received 2 identical messages on answering machine today from a supposed "Kenneth Matthews from Australian Tax Office in Canberra", claiming a case of Tax Evasion & for us our legal Representative to call back as it is a time sensative matter.
Googled the number, found this listing as a scam, as we suspected.
