Just got a no ID call threatening Police action from the ATO. A synthesied message says to return the call to this number 61 3 4309 4034. A quick search revealed the 'reversau link' and comments that it is a scam. So just for a bit of fun I called the number and spoke to Mr Peter Marshall (with poor english) who went into story about auditing and upaid taxes.

Being a good citizen I said I would pay it straight away so Peter then put me through to his supervisor Mr Byron Kay (also with poor english) who then told me the Police were coming to call on me this afternoon but he would help me not get into any more trouble and asked me for my credit card details. I told him I couldn't give him my CC details however if he gave me their bank account number I would pay the outstanding amount straight away. He said you are going to be in big trouble for refusing to pay by credit card. I said I really can't give you my CC over the phone. He hung up :) :).

I just received a message from this number stating that there was a police officer at my door at home and to call back. As I had just heard there was a road fatality in my neighbourhood and I was unable to contact my two teenage sons - this was extremely stressful and upsetting to hear. I have tried to return the call and it hangs up - can someone please shut these guys down before they cause someone to have a heart attack.

Hi this number rings me and states they are from the ATO and rattle a number quickly for me to return their call or I will have police on my door.

Do not ignore this phone call blah blah. This is the 5th one I have had in the last month. I blocked the original number which was 02 83111542 seems they have now got a Melbourne number.

I know it's a scam and do not ring back nor ring the original number back.
