Beware of calls from 03 4247 2714. Reports indicate it's a scam number impersonating NBN representatives to falsely offer refunds. Learn how to handle such calls effectively.

The Disturbing Reality Behind 03 4247 2714

If you’ve received a call from 03 4247 2714, proceed with caution. This number has been reported by multiple users as being associated with a scam, specifically a fraudulent NBN refund scheme. In recent interactions, the caller impersonates 'Steve' from the National Broadband Network (NBN), claiming that they are preparing to issue a refund on accounts that the recipients do not, in fact, possess.

The NBN Refund Scam Explained

This scam seems to target unsuspecting individuals who may not have an NBN account at all. As described in user reports, the conversation usually begins with an indication of an imminent refund, which is a hook to engage the victim. Once challenged about their legitimacy, the caller often hangs up, revealing the lack of credibility in their claims. This clear pattern of operation classifies the calls as scams.

Identifying Related Risks

  • Impersonation of Legitimate Companies: Scammers often use names of reputable companies to gain trust.
  • Phishing for Personal Information: The intention is usually to extract sensitive data.
  • Hang-Up Strategy: By abruptly ending the call when questioned, scammers avoid giving concrete evidence of their deceit.

What Should You Do?

It's essential to take precautions when receiving suspicious calls:

  • Do Not Engage: If you suspect a scam, hang up immediately.
  • Block the Number: Protect yourself from future calls by blocking the number.
  • Report the Number: Notify platforms such as Scamwatch to help prevent others from being targeted.
  • Reverse Phone Lookup Australia: Use services like Reverseau to gather information about unknown callers.

By staying vigilant and informed, you can protect yourself from scams like the one associated with 03 4247 2714. If you're ever in doubt, always reach out to your service provider directly using verified contact details.

Scam

Just received a call on my mobile, claiming to be "Steve" from National Broadband Network and advised that I would now be receiving a refund on my National Broadband Network Account. As I don't have an National Broadband Network account I said to the guy; "I no longer have internet nor a landline so how does this work?" and he hung up... Scammer for sure! Blocked number and reported to Scamwatch.

Scam

I got a call on my mobile from someone claiming to be "Steve" from NBN, who said that I would be receiving a refund on my NBN account. Since I do not have an NBN account, I questioned him about how that would work and he hung up. This is clearly a scam, and I have blocked the number and reported it to Scamwatch.

About This Report

This page is part of the Reverseau Scam Intelligence Database, a community-driven dataset maintained by Reverseau since 2014. The database documents caller behaviour across Australian phone numbers based on first-hand user experiences.

Each entry is generated when individuals who received calls or messages from a number submit a report through our review form. Reports include a caller safety rating (1–5 scale) and a written account of the interaction. All submissions are moderated before publication.

The safety rating shown on this page reflects the collective assessment of (03) 4247 2714 by real users. It measures perceived caller risk, not the quality of this page. A low rating indicates that reporters consider this number likely to be associated with scam or spam activity.
