Western union call back scam,
BEWARE!!!
Western Union credit card scam. BEWARE!
Western Union Scam call.
This is a scam call reporting unauthorised use of my non existing credit card snd asking me to press numbers to report the transaction.
I received a voicemail stating, "This is a call from Visa and MasterCard security to confirm a transfer of $601,100 to Western Union. Please press 1 to confirm or 2 to speak with customer service." When I called back three hours later, I got a recorded message saying, "The number cannot be connected." This seems like a scam to me.
This phone number starts with '03', which is an area code for Victoria and Tasmania, but the caller ID indicates it's from Wentworth, New South Wales. When I answered the call, no one spoke on the line, and I decided to remain silent. This silence seems to confuse the automated voice recognition system, preventing it from connecting me to the possible scammer behind the call.
Community reports are retained as historical safety signals within the Reverseau telecommunications safety dataset and may reflect different experiences over time.
