(02) 9157 8981 - 0291578981 - Scam Alert: Fake Pathology Calls Trying to Extract Payments

Had a call from this number, saying I owe $110 for a Halter monitor test. I didn't do anything that needs payment. Told the lady it’s a scam and hung up—now trying to reach Dorovitch Pathology is like pulling teeth. Ridiculous!

Oi, my mate got a dodgy call from this number, right? Some bloke with an Asian accent was all pushy, spewing about needing to fork out money straight away for some unpaid blood test. Total scam vibes!

Even left a fake generated voice message when I did not answer. Claiming to be from Western Diagnostics and needed me to call and confirm an email.

I had just left hospital after 5weeks and have many western diagnostics invoices. But the voice recording was definitely a fake generated voice in the message. We rang western diagnostics and there was no issues. Do not return calls to this number.

Pretty dodgy, I reckon. Had a similar run-in with Laverty Pathology... not sure what's going on, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth!

I've had a couple of texts and a call from this dodgy Asian bloke claiming to represent Dorovich pathology. He’s demanding I cough up $100 for a blood test done while I was hospitalised! Mate, anything like that is supposed to be covered by Medicare or my health insurance. I checked out that number, and it’s a bloody scam; no way I'm paying for this!

Some dodgy bloke claiming to be from Laverty Australia rang me up, wouldn’t spill the beans on what they were selling – just asked for cash! Told him to buzz off and slammed the phone down. Heck of a waste of time!

- Had tests done at a Dorevitch facility — smooth process, no charges due to private health insurance coverage.

- Weeks later, began receiving calls from 02 9157 8981 referencing an invoice # and asking to call 1800 350 046 (also listed on Dorevitch’s website).

- Also received a text from “Pathology” (no number) with a link to a digital invoice on the Dorevitch website (requires postcode to access).

- Everything appeared legitimate on the surface.

- Called 1800 350 046 — connected to Healius, which owns or partners with Dorevitch.

- Call Center was operated by WNS, based in Eastwood, Quezon City, Philippines.

- They requested a photo of the private health insurance membership card to resolve a detail discrepancy for claiming purposes.

- To verify, I personally visited the Dorevitch pathology facility to compare the digital invoice with original records.

Dorevitch advised contacting the private health insurance to resolve the issue via their claims/account team.

- The private health insurance advised not to send the membership card to anyone — the issue lies between Dorevitch and the insurer, and no customer action is needed. Advised it’s inappropriate for third parties to contact customers for claim resolution.

Conclusion: Regardless of whether it's a scam or a dysfunctional process, followed the private health insurance's guidance and blocked the number.

I received a phone call from 0291578981 telling me that I owe $100.00 for blood tests they said I had not paid this account that was requested on my phone twice This No is a Sydney phone number. They have sent me an Invoice at my request by Email. The caller had my Specialists name on this invoice and my address was spelt wrongly. I have researched this phone number which was reported as a scam I strongly advise to not pay these requests for payment, I will not be paying these scammers either and I will be blocking this number also.
