This bloke had a thick accent and was a real piece of work when my team asked what the call was about. He wouldn't spill the beans and hinted that the director was expecting him. When we called back, he claimed it was personal and then hung up on us! This reeks of some dodgy LinkedIn scraper!
The caller asked to speak directly with our Directors using their first names. This raised my suspicions, prompting me to look up the number, which led me to this site. This is a SCAM ALERT!
This number called me twice and left a voicemail on the second attempt. I typically don’t answer calls from unknown numbers. After searching the number on Google, I discovered that it is associated with a scam. This should be reported.
Scammer. The guy pretended to be Luke from BHMG which is actually a legitimate company and said he had a meeting with my director and wanted him to call him back.
My director eventually called him back and he wasted his time.
DO NOT ANSWER CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER.
Scammer called (and subsequently left a message on the answering machine) claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office and that we had been involved in tax avoidance/evasion and requested a call back before they issued a warrant for our arrest. Scammer claimed to be James Appleton from the ATO.
