Understanding the Threat: 02 8003 3604

The phone number 02 8003 3604 has emerged as a significant concern among users, primarily identified as a scam number predominantly associated with fraudulent schemes involving PayPal and eBay transactions. Recent reports highlight a pattern of deceit where unsuspecting individuals receive emails professing to confirm orders for high-ticket items, such as the Apple iPhone 14 Pro, that they never placed.

Nature of the Scam

Reports indicate that scammers are sending emails that appear to be from legitimate companies, falsely claiming that a purchase has been made. These emails typically feature links to contact their "support team," which leads to the aforementioned phone number. This tactic is classic phishing, where scammers exploit the semblance of legitimacy to coax individuals into sharing personal or financial information. Furthermore, no actual transactions have been recorded for the items in question, causing distress and confusion among targets.

Feedback from users consistently categorises 02 8003 3604 as a malicious threat, with numerous reports highlighting identical scenarios:

  • Emails indicating a purchase, complete with fake invoice attachments.
  • An urgent call to verify the transaction using the provided phone number.
  • Claims of involvement from respected services like PayPal, urging victims to act quickly.

Most disturbingly, several users noted that the emails contained discrepancies, such as incorrect shipping addresses and dubious tax information, which further underscored their fraudulent nature.

How to Handle Incoming Calls

If you receive a call from 02 8003 3604, it is advisable to ignore it. The best course of action is to not engage with the caller or call them back. Instead, if you suspect fraud, directly contact PayPal or eBay through their official channels to verify any claims made in emails or messages. Always remember to report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities, creating a safer environment for consumers.

Protecting Yourself

Staying vigilant is essential. Ensure that your email security settings are enabled to filter out suspicious messages and teach others in your network about these scams. By being knowledgeable and cautious, you can help diminish the effectiveness of such scams.

+61 2 8003 3604 was the number quoted in what appears to be a scam PayPal attachment to a scam eBay email that said that I had ordered an Apple iPhone 14 Pro. I hate Apple. I would never order an Apple phone. I was in my eBay account earlier today and no such transaction ever took place. I don't have $969.99 to pay for this crap.

SCAMMER.

About This Report

This page is part of the Reverseau Scam Intelligence Database, a community-driven dataset maintained by Reverseau since 2014. The database documents caller behaviour across Australian phone numbers based on first-hand user experiences.

Each entry is generated when individuals who received calls or messages from a number submit a report through our review form. Reports include a caller safety rating (1–5 scale) and a written account of the interaction. All submissions are moderated before publication.

The safety rating shown on this page reflects the collective assessment of (02) 8003 3604 by real users. It measures perceived caller risk, not the quality of this page. A low rating indicates that reporters consider this number likely to be associated with scam or spam activity.
