Understanding Suspicion Around 02 8000 4101

In recent reports, the phone number 02 8000 4101 / 0280004101 has emerged as a source of suspicion among Australian callers. Many users have recounted similar experiences that suggest an unsettling pattern indicating that this number may not be as innocent as it seems.

User Encounters

Two users reported receiving identical calls on the same date, 06/05/2022. Both described being contacted by a representative with an Indian accent inquiring about property ownership. The caller referenced a residential property in Belfield and claimed to possess records indicating that the recipient owned the property. This raised immediate questions about the legitimacy of the call, especially since the receivers were not the property owners but related to someone who was.

Classification of the Caller

Due to the nature of these calls, the number 02 8000 4101 / 0280004101 falls into the category of 'suspicious'. The invasion of privacy, coupled with the acquisition of personal details such as past addresses, may at least indicate an attempt at identity verification or a misleading sales pitch.

Identifying Potential Risks

The persistence in asking questions regarding personal properties, coupled with a vague introduction from the caller, suggests the possibility of a scam. Callers often use similar tactics to extract sensitive information, usually under the guise of offering services or confirming data.

How to Handle Suspicious Calls

  • Do Not Share Personal Information: Avoid discussing property details or your identity with unknown callers.
  • Verify the Caller’s Identity: If you receive a call, ask for the company’s name and a callback number. You can cross-verify using Reverseau to check the caller's credentials.
  • Report the Call: If you find the caller suspicious, it’s good practice to report it to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
  • Stay Calm: Don’t let the pressured tone of the caller sway your reaction. It’s always wise to take time to process the call.

In conclusion, while not every call from 02 8000 4101 / 0280004101 may pose a real threat, user feedback points towards significant reasons to exercise caution. Protect your personal information and utilise resources like Reverse Phone Lookup Australia to identify unverified callers. Remember, if in doubt, hang up and verify.

Suspicious

I got a call today, she has this Indian accent and asking if I am the owner of the property in Belfield. I asked, how do you get my number and how do you know me. She said that she calling from "Residential Property...." (I didn't get what she said, or she may be rather not said it) She said "from our record list it said that you own the property in this address". She mention the address, (which was I used to live) and I was not the owner but my husband is. So I don't understand why she can get the I am the owner of that property and I don't know how she get my number and address from. Or May be she just digging more information from me. I don't know, but I am suspicious.

About This Report

This page is part of the Reverseau Scam Intelligence Database, a community-driven dataset maintained by Reverseau since 2014. The database documents caller behaviour across Australian phone numbers based on first-hand user experiences.

Each entry is generated when individuals who received calls or messages from a number submit a report through our review form. Reports include a caller safety rating (1–5 scale) and a written account of the interaction. All submissions are moderated before publication.

The safety rating shown on this page reflects the collective assessment of (02) 8000 4101 by real users. It measures perceived caller risk, not the quality of this page. A low rating indicates that reporters consider this number likely to be associated with scam or spam activity.
