I suspect that this call was legitimate and related to a new NBN connection. However, I chose not to answer because my phone identified the number as potential spam, leading me to be cautious.
I received a call from someone claiming to be confirming my appointment regarding an NBN service and inquiring about access, which seems to be a legitimate contact.
The caller claimed to be from NBN. However, when I researched the number, it turned out to be associated with Infosys, which is an Indian company. The caller vaguely mentioned that a technician would come to handle an internet connection issue. When I called back to decline their services, there was no answer. The caller’s name was spelled as “Sweety”.
Today, I received a text message regarding my transition from Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP). The message stated that the NBN would be in touch to confirm an appointment and installation process. I reached out to NBN directly, and they confirmed that the text was legitimate.
The caller is falsely claiming to be from NBN (National Broadband Network), which raises suspicion.
Nobody talks to you, so in a way, it is a meditative scam. Still annoying.
I never answered the call, but they left a voicemail that had no sound in it. After I checked the voicemail, my phone stopped working until I rebooted it.
I have received 10 calls from this number since March 16th. I have chosen not to answer any of them, but when I called back immediately, they only left a long, silent voicemail.
