Pretending to be ATO, have reported to ASIC. Given the number of people they call and the length of time this number is still used, I I don't know why the government can't work with the telcos to block these pathetic little people...

Sounds like scammers pretending to be the ATO (Australian Tax Office) and threatening with a lawsuit.

The message left was a computer automated voice with American accent. Only other safe option is to ignore.

Does anyone have any idea where this mob got our info from? They have quite a few details.

This is a scam caller. They have rung me both at work and at home. Pretending to be the ATO. Do not ring back or engage with them.

Have had 3 calls in 24 hours from this number, asian american robot female voice informing me ATO were filing a lawsuit against me and to call back. This is not how ATO would ever inform you about anything so if you get the same best to not respond and report it.

Also received call, tried calling 94 times back. Was very unprofessional knew something was up.

Sounded like someone running to answer phone, somewhat heavy accent. Then he proceeded to tell me my name and address. Lacked any form of professionalism or process that you would expect from the ATO - when I queried him he hung up.

Very annoying "ATO final warning" scam. Just blocked this number.

Receieved two calls from this number today (08/10/15) automated american accent claiming it was final warning and ATO was filing a lawsuit against me and told me to call the number back.

Haven't followed the request.

Got the same automated message saying final notice for legal action from ATO, leaving the same number yesterday morning. We just paid our tax bill, but even if we hadn't, the ATO would never operate like this!

Called the number, very confident it is a Scam. A person in India answered and said sorry then hung up.

I called back and he said sorry again and said it was a prank. LOL.

Had the same automated I/b call a few hours ago. Checked directly with the ATO, confirmed it was a scam and reported the number.

They would be scary IF you didn't recognise the accent (I'm Canadian!), group the telephone number incorrectly and use the term "file a lawsuit"!

Got the same message this morning. I called the tax office using their 13 number and reported it. They said it is good to report it because the more they get the more they can do something about it. So if you feel inclined, please call the Ato. I work in mental health. Calls like this can make a suicudal person finish it off. Irresponsible and I want these predators sorted appropriately.

Just got the call, thought it a little unusual being a recorded message. ATO generally will call and email for such serious matters.

Ha I missed the "call" to my mobile and the automated US lady left a message saying the ATO was going to file a lawsuit against me. Of course, I've filed my tax return every year since I started working, so... Not a thing. But bloody hell, it's like being breathalyzed even if you haven't touched anything in a year. Still scary!

Received the same call today. Called back and spoke to someone, gave them a hard time and they immediately hung up... Very suspect!!!

Also got a call. My folks were called by someone similar a few months ago. So dodgy.

I worked out it was a scam pretty quickly when they started quoting a tax year where there was an apparent miscalculation, but unbeknown to them I didn't actually need to submit a tax return for that year. But I can appreciate many probably won't pick up on it.

They wanted me to go to the bank and pay the tax debt of $2684 all the while having my phone speaker on while I did it so they could step me through it step-by-step.

The 'senior investigator' goes by the name of Kevin Wilson!

I got a call with the same recorded message that everyone else here has received. Confirmed it to be a scam by calling the fraud line at the real ATO.

I just received a recorded voice call advising me that the ATO is going to take legal action against me unless I call that number, listed simply as "261 721 374". I received that call on our landline at work, Wollongong Conservatorium of Music.

I just called the number back after getting the same voicemail message and spoke to an idiot called Mark Price who went on to tell me he definitely was the ATO. He then said I could call him a scammer all I liked but that I had a really beautiful voice. I put my husband on and he screamed "I'm not a f**king GAY!".

I was called from stating that legal proceedings are about to be placed on me fron the ato I rand the number and the indian gentleman hung up on me when I questioned him I think this is a scam to get money from people this number must be registered with someone please check it out.
