The phone number 02 4315 2491 has been reported as a scam, impersonating Telstra to lure victims into providing personal information. Read on for insights on how to identify and handle calls from this number.
Understanding the Threat: 02 4315 2491
The phone number 02 4315 2491 / 0243152491 has emerged as a red flag for those vigilant about unsolicited calls. User reports classify this number as a scam, with individuals claiming they were approached under the guise of being from Telstra, Australia’s leading telecommunications provider.
How the Scam Works
Callers portray themselves as representatives of Telstra. They often claim to be contacting loyal customers to offer attractive discounts—like a purported 50% discount on phone bills for six months. However, the intent is far from noble. Victims noted that the scammers possess sensitive personal information, making their ruse convincing. The calls often culminate in a request to provide a text message code, which, alarmingly, ends up being a Microsoft recovery code rather than anything Telstra-related. This suggests that the aim is to gain access to the victim's email accounts.
Identifying the Signs of a Scam Call
- Unsolicited Offers: If a caller offers promotions that seem too good to be true, they likely are.
- Knowledge of Personal Information: Scammers often use previously acquired information to build trust. Be wary if they know personal details.
- Urgency in Request: Pressure to act quickly or provide codes is a clear indicator of a scam.
What to Do If You Receive a Call From 02 4315 2491
It is advisable not to engage with the caller. If you receive a call from this number, here are a few steps you can take:
- Do Not Share Personal Information: Never provide personal details or codes to unidentified callers.
- Hang Up: It's best to end the call and avoid any further communication.
- Report the Call: Notify the relevant authorities or Telstra about the scam attempt.
Conclusion
In summary, the phone number 02 4315 2491 / 0243152491 is part of a scam operation targeting unsuspecting individuals by pretending to offer Telstra services. By staying informed and vigilant, you can protect yourself and others from falling victim to these deceitful schemes. Remember, when in doubt, reach out to official channels directly, as this is the best way to confirm the legitimacy of any claims.

This is one of several numbers starting with 02 that frequently calls me and then hangs up. They are quite bothersome.
Caller claimed to be from Telstra. Rang saying I was a loyal customer and entitled to a 50% discount on my phone bill for the next 6 months. The caller knew all my details, then proceeded to tell me they needed to send me text message code for us to proceed. The text code came from Microsoft and not from Telstra. They were trying to gain access to my emails and that was a password recovery text for my emails. BEWARE!
