Why Is This Number Suspicious?

Here are some insights into why this number appears to be suspect:

  • Silent Calls: Legitimate callers typically leave a message when reaching out. A lack of voicemails and frequent hang-ups could suggest improper use of automated dialing systems.

I have a silent number and for the past few days have had calls from this number, I don't recognise the number so I let it go to message however there is clear background noise but no message.

Each time I ring the number it says number not connected but IF I PRESS REPLY directly from TELSTRA home messages there is a recording saying the dialled number is busy....

SO which is it???? I would like Telstra to tell me... As I PAY TELSTRA for my unlisted number.

Every day it is between 5.40pm and 5.55pm...

NOT HAPPY.

For the past four months, I have been receiving calls from this number at a rate of about three times a day, around 8:30 AM, 3:30 PM, and 10:30 PM. They never leave any messages. At first, I might have answered a call, but now I can't remember. Since realizing that it is a persistent hang-up number, I saved it in my contacts as 'CrapCaller' and have decided not to answer. Unfortunately, this particular phone does not have a blocking feature.

About This Report

This page is part of the Reverseau Scam Intelligence Database, a community-driven dataset maintained by Reverseau since 2014. The database documents caller behaviour across Australian phone numbers based on first-hand user experiences.

Each entry is generated when individuals who received calls or messages from a number submit a report through our review form. Reports include a caller safety rating (1–5 scale) and a written account of the interaction. All submissions are moderated before publication.

The safety rating shown on this page reflects the collective assessment of (02) 4220 2500 by real users. It measures perceived caller risk, not the quality of this page. A low rating indicates that reporters consider this number likely to be associated with scam or spam activity.
