I received an email stating that I have made a payment of $419 for a McAfee software subscription. The email instructed me to call (02) 4017 0435 if I wanted a refund. However, I do not use any McAfee products at all. I am convinced that this is a scam.
I was contacted by this number in an email that pretended to be from McAfee, claiming there would be a subscription payment taken from my account. I do not have a McAfee account, and I often receive similar emails with different phone numbers. These messages are just phishing scams designed to trick me into providing my bank details under the guise of "cancelling my payment."
Checking this number, not going to call. I received an email today 4/7/23 claiming that my MacAfee yearly subscription is about to be charged ($417AU) and I have 24 hours to contact them for a refund... Interesting that this is the same number (supposed Customer Support) as the ATO scams 4 years ago.
Scam number. Automatic voice claiming to be ATO. As a teacher who was using Bluetooth speakers, it made for an authentic teaching moment: "class, this is an example of a scam call"... And was able to discuss the ways to identify scam calls and the risks.
Received a tax office scam call from this number. Automated message threatening to arrest me if I do not call back. Scam!!!
Just had a "Robo Call' from this number. Claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Department and advising me of a Lawsuit raised against me, advising me to call the department back.
1) it's an electronic voice generator rather than a person.
2) it's non-specific as to which entity it is trying to contact.
3) it's calling to get me to call them.
4) This is not how the ATO contacts people.
Scam about a lawsuit case, do not call this number.
Had a missed call and voicemail from this number. The voicemail said that there would be a warrant out for my arrest if I did not call back.
Called saying they are from the ATO. Young Asian women saying there is a case been filed against me. Asked for name and address. Entertained her for a while before telling her I knew she was trying to scam. Swore at me and hung up.
