Beware of calls from 02 4003 7748, as it has been reported to be involved in an eBay gift card scam. Learn how to identify and handle calls from this number effectively.

If you've received a call from 02 4003 7748, it's crucial to be aware that this number is connected to a scam targeting unsuspecting individuals. According to user reports, this number has been linked to an eBay gift card scam where callers impersonate legitimate eBay representatives in an attempt to acquire personal account information.

The initial contact typically involves an automated voice message that alerts victims about a supposedly suspicious transaction on their eBay account, often summarised with a gift card purchase "for $300." Upon returning the call, many users have recounted speaking to individuals with Indian accents, further raising suspicion regarding the legitimacy of the call.

Scammers often utilise fear tactics, encouraging recipients to divulge sensitive information tied to their accounts. It’s important to remember that legitimate companies, like eBay, will not ask you to provide personal or financial information over the phone. This is a red flag and a common characteristic of such scams.

To protect yourself against this specific scam, follow these recommendations:

  • Do not return the call: If you receive a message from this number, it's safer not to call back.
  • Verify through official channels: If you suspect that a call could be legitimate, contact the company directly using numbers from their official website.
  • Block the number: To prevent future harassment from this number, consider adding it to your blocked contacts.
  • Report the scam: Inform the appropriate authorities or your local consumer protection agency about the incident. Reporting helps protect others from falling victim to such scams.

In conclusion, 02 4003 7748 is a number linked to a deceptive eBay gift card scam. Awareness and caution are your best defences against such tactics. This number called me and left a message that was clearly generated by a machine. I believe this is a scam. When I returned the call, I spoke with a person who had an Indian accent. They claimed there was a $300 gift card purchase made on my eBay account. Upon checking my account, I found no such transaction. It seemed like they were trying to obtain my eBay account details. I have since blocked this number.

About This Report

This page is part of the Reverseau Scam Intelligence Database, a community-driven dataset maintained by Reverseau since 2014. The database documents caller behaviour across Australian phone numbers based on first-hand user experiences.

Each entry is generated when individuals who received calls or messages from a number submit a report through our review form. Reports include a caller safety rating (1–5 scale) and a written account of the interaction. All submissions are moderated before publication.

The safety rating shown on this page reflects the collective assessment of (02) 4003 7748 by real users. It measures perceived caller risk, not the quality of this page. A low rating indicates that reporters consider this number likely to be associated with scam or spam activity.
