It's the famous Steve from Levitate, one of his various numbers. An obvious scam, wants your ID and superannuation details. Levitate voluntarily de-registered with ASIC almost a year ago so he's not with them!
According to Wikipedia mobile numbers in the range 0489997xxx are "spare" numbers, ie not allocated/not used. Therefore he's using number spoofing, like they all do. You can go ahead and block the entire 0489 9xx xxx range with your phone.
Real financial institutions don't call you from mobile numbers and they don't use free gmail addresses! They also respect the Do Not Call Register unlike this guy - if you're on that register and you still get what sounds like telemarketing calls, it's very likely a scammer. Real companies know better than to ignore Do Not Call.
Calls every day from a slightly different number. Seeya tomorrow Steve! But I block all numbers not in my contacts list.
What gets me is they have been calling for nearly 10 years. Do they not look at the call records and realise, this guy is not falling for it? Pretty soon you can spot the scam calls without even answering.
During the call, the person introduced themselves as someone from a company called Levitate and asked if they were speaking to me by name. I confirmed, and they said the call would be recorded. When I inquired about whether they were a government agency, they responded negatively. I then mentioned I am registered on the Do Not Call Register and asked how they got my number, but they hung up shortly after.
I received a call from this number, but since I didn't recognize it, I let it go to voicemail. They didn't leave any message, so I called back out of curiosity. When I answered, I heard a female voice recording that mentioned a company called "Levitate," but the rest of the message was unclear and seemed unimportant. Based on this experience and the many negative comments I read from others about this number, I believe it is a scam. I do not recommend wasting time answering future calls from them.
I received a spam call that asked me intrusive questions. I’m registered on the Do Not Call list, so I consider this to be fraudulent activity.
