The comment above comes from Dun and Bradstreet scame artist and is all part of their scam I was contacted sayin I owe family benifit....I'm sigle, never been married, never had kids. So I would like to know how I would have gotten the family benefit in the first place let alone having to owe Centrelink money for it I have not been on Centrelink for nearly 2 years I have never received any communication saying I owe money to them infact I have letters confirming all my debts are paid. If you contact or give your details to this supposed "Company" then you deserve to be ripped off. SCAM!
It's legit. I called centrelink and they transferred me to them to pay an unknown debt I had with them.
Ignore this call. The first thing they ask when you give them a call is your name and date of birth - which is a trap! I didn't answer it but instead asked them why they were calling me for the the past week and they mentioned a random name (I suppose). I told them I don't know that guy and they just hang up.
It's a scam. They were calling me from "Dunn & Bradstreet" originally, then this week they changed to "Woodridge". Just ignore the call and report to the scam watch, nothing legit about this number whatsoever.
I got a call a spade well asking for verification which I decided to press 2(no). I "did" owe Centrelink a small amount which was paid back already out of my tax return so unsure why they would be still calling if it is about this matter now after several months already. If I don't get anything in the mail then im not going to be handing over my personal details or financial details over the phone to anybody unless I'm convinced and sure that it's froma legitimate person/business and the matters are known to myself.
This caller keeps leaving me messages saying press 1 if this is your phone number and 2 if it isn't. They've been calling every day for almost a week.
Got an automated call from this number several days ago.
Gave my full name and askeded me to confirm by selecting one or two if not correct. Stupidly I selected one. Then went on to ask me to confirm some of my date of birth details. I hung up immediately suspecting it was a scam. They called again a few days later and I didn't answer.
I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist but based on the information they already had about me, my normal reluctance to give any personal information online, and my recent completion of the Census online, I suspect the census was hacked.
A man using the mobile number 0488 822 509 has rung me a few times (and left voicemail messages as well) but always from a mobile phone not a landline advising that they were from the Collections Department of Dun & Bradstreet saying that I have been overpaid family benefits from the government and I have to pay it back (wanting my credit card details to 'settle this matter'). They gave my previous address (not my current address which we have updated with every department / relevant agency). I haven't received anything in the post otherwise I would have taken it more seriously. It sounded very suss and the person got angry with me telling me that it was going to affect my credit rating and I would end up with a criminal record if I didn't repay the government the money owed. They keep ringing and leaving voicemail messages (as I refuse to take any further calls from these scammers). Every time they leave a voicemail I have to pay for voicemail deposit and voicemail retrieval. They sounded very professional (and I had heard of Dun and Bradstreet) so unfortunately I fear that many will fall for this scam and provide their credit card details as to avoid any 'legal action' which is threatened in the phone call. I have tried to ring the number a few times today and it is turned off (surprise, surprise!).
I've had Text and voice calls from this number. I owe no one any money... Don't even owe the bank for my house.
These are a scam... Feeling for the business its link too if they are legit.
This number is legitimate and comes from Dun & Bradstreet, a collection agency for Centrelink debts. The Dun & Bradstreet website has their 1300 133 372 number and you can ring that to confirm your own situation.
I had at least two missed calls per day to my phone, for 3 days before a letter arrived in the post. If you do answer the call, a recorded message tells you it is an "important" call, then asks you to confirm that your name is and other personal details.
I spoke to a D&B representative today about how intimidating it feels, and if so important then a human should make contact, not a robot. They took this on board. It is a new system. The staff member was not aware the number shows up as a mobile number. The reason they can not identify themselves in the recorded message is for your confidentiality - if they have a wrong number, someone else would then know you have a Centrelink debt. My recommendation to Centrelink is for them to make contact first, telling clients that D&B will be in touch.
