Nature of the Scam

- Pressing Buttons for Interaction: Users have noted prompts to select different options, a method typically used to validate the number or manipulate the responder into giving personal information.
- Financial Threats: In one review, a call fabricated a false scenario concerning credit card charges, a tactic designed to instill urgency and trick recipients into providing sensitive details.

I received a call stating my credit card was about to be debited with $1,299.00, press 1 to authorise or 2 to decline. I knew straight away this was not legit as I worked for my bank for 31 years and am aware this is not the procedure. I called card services to check and report. Blocked number and deleted from phone.
Scam number.
The machine lady voice said that this phone number is from Australian Govt, and I had to select no 1 for English and no 2 for Chinese.... I don't believe it, so I hang up the call.
I got an automated message stating that "you may have missed an important call from the government.” It was vague and concerning, so I’m wary of its authenticity.
After answering the call, there was a noticeable delay of a few seconds before an automated message began. As soon as the caller identified herself as Brenda from the ANZ Bank, I ended the call immediately.
