Understanding the Confusion Surrounding 0485 889 381
The phone number 0485 889 381 / 0485889381 has raised eyebrows among users, with reports classifying it both as a legitimate service from Australia Post and as a potential scam attempt. As a part of our mission at Reverseau to provide clarity on such numbers, we will analyse the data collected from user reviews to understand what this number truly represents.
Legit Service or Dangerous Scam?
On one hand, some users have reported that this number is used by Australia Post prepaid card services. Messages from this number typically ask users to confirm or decline a recent purchase, a process intended to protect customers from fraud. They also advise reaching out to the official Australia Post 1800 number for confirmation of authenticity. This alignment seems legitimate and follows standard practices for safeguarding payments.
However, in sharp contrast, other users have labelled it as a scam. A report suggested that a text was received warning of a non-existent transaction using the user’s legitimate card details. This raises significant red flags for potential phishing attempts. Scammers often spoof numbers or use familiar company names to gain trust and extract personal information.

Seems to be a scam. Text warns about a non existent transaction on my Australia Post Everyday card with the correct last 4 digits but doesn't provide an amount but provides the correct 1800 contact number. If you must call the 1800 number use another phone as your phone may be compromised. I just ignored it.
