Claim to be Ballarat City Council doing a survey. Quite rude when told not interested and they also made comment about just answering the questions now is better than getting a phone call every day.
The caller claimed to be from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), but I could barely understand the heavily accented female voice. She began asking me invasive questions about my home ownership and marital status. When I questioned the appropriateness of these inquiries, she abruptly hung up. I strongly believe this was a spam call!
Someone foreign called from this number and it took a couple of "hellos" from me for someone to speak at the other end. I could hear lots of other people talking in the background (presumably also on telephones). She said she was from "Longreach Shire Council" (western Qld). I said, "You don't sound like you're from Longreach Shire Council" and the woman immediately hung up. Have blocked the number. Simple.
