SCAMMERS AT IT AGAIN - EVERYONE PLEASE BE AWARE.
Also got a call from this number. The caller also identified himself as “Jack Olsen” from Telstra Security.
Claims my IP address has been compromised and they have been trying to contact me for over 2 weeks.
I said “you obviously haven’t tried hard enough as I have no missed calls”
He said “yes well we tried to call you and sent you numerous emails” (all lies)
I said I didn’t have any missed calls nor have I received emails.
He said “well we need to rectify this immediately”
I said “listen, I’m just about to take a nap, so give me a number to call you back”
He said “no it doesn’t work like that, I need your IP address now”
I said “well you said you have been trying to get in touch with me for over 2 weeks, so a few hours isn’t going to make much difference”
He said “just give it to me now”
Me “no, I don’t have time”
Him “I said this is urgent - now give me your IP address”
Me “if you say my IP address has been compromised, surely you would have all my details, so how about you sort it out and give me a call back in 3 hours and tell me how you went about sorting it out”
Him (now yelling at me) “stop being a f*king smart arse and answer me. Give me your IP address”
I, in turn, called him a few choice names then hung up and blocked.
This scammer called me as well.
Pretty much the same as what the other recent reviews have said.
The male was hard to understand.
Said he was “Jack Olsen” from Telstra. Rattled off an alleged Telstra employee ID (I didn’t have a pen handy to record it, but am sure it was fake)
He told me that he had been trying to contact me in regards to “the fact” that my IP address had been hacked and it had been accessed my numerous people.
He asked me if I had shared it with anyone.
I said no.
He then said I needed to tell him my IP address.
I said I didn’t know what an IP address was.
He said “don’t be ridiculous, just read it out to me”
I said “where would this so called hacked IP address be for me to be able to read out to him”
He said, rather aggressively, put your phone on speaker and go to settings.
I said “where would I find this?”
He said “I just told you to go into your settings”
I said “my phone doesn’t have this feature, I don’t have one of those type of phones”
He got even more angrier and said “this isn’t a joke”
I said “who’s telling jokes? I have just been released on parole from prison where I’ve been for the past 15 years, so you’re trying to scam me is hilarious”
I then hung up and blocked him.
SCAMMER!!!!!
POSING AS Telstra SECURITY ⚠️‼️⛔️🚨
Male with difficult to understand accent called me claiming to be from Telstra. Said they have been trying to get hold of me for 2 weeks as apparently someone has hacked me and my IP address has been compromised.
I asked the male for his name and he said “Jack Olsen” and gave me an ID number which is allegedly his Telstra ID. The ID he gave me was: 133776721.
He claimed to be calling from Melbourne.
I told him I wasn’t interested and if it was that urgent, I would have received notification 2 weeks ago. He told me.
- no - he YELLED at me to “listen up and follow his instructions”
I said I wasn’t affiliated with Telstra and he got angry saying EVERYONE is connected to Telstra whether it be Telstra, Optus, Amaysim and “Doo Doo” (I think he meant DoDo)
I again asked him where he was calling from as I could hear a lot of angry people yelling at (what I assume to be) other callers.
He said “I already told you. I am from Telstra Security. My name is Jack Olsen. My ID number is 133776721. I work in Melbourne and the address is 242 Exhibiting (???) Street Melbourne. (Then yelled) NOW GIVE ME YOUR IP ADDRESS”
I said if you are going to speak to me like that, the answer is no.
He screamed “do you not understand how important this is?”
I said “if my account has been hacked, you have my IP address, so how about you read it out to me and I will confirm from my end. Or if you give me a phone number to call back to confirm, I’m happy to do that” (as if I would)
He then screamed “f*king give it to me now, this is f*king serious”
I replied “wow, no wonder I don’t use Telstra as my provider” and hung up.
I quickly blocked in case he called back.
I urge everyone to be vigilant as I can see this scam is doing the rounds again.
‼️ 🚨 SCAM WARNING 🚨 ‼️
I just received a call from this number. Male was difficult to understand. Indian accent, but VERY poor English skills.
Claimed to be “Jack Olsen” from Telstra Security. He even gave an employee Identification Number (133776721)
He told me that my IP address had been compromised many times over the past week and they needed to investigate. I asked him if it happened last week, why is he only calling me now. He replied that he had attempted to call me at least 30 times via email and phone. I said I hadn’t received said emails or calls and asked him what email address. He pretended not to hear this and continued with his scripted speech. I interrupted and again asked what email address to which he replied “yes ma’am, I am from Telstra Security and our address is 242 Exhibition Street Melbourne”
(may I add that he did not pronounce “exhibition” as “exhibition” rather “ex hib I tations”)
I told him I was an old lady and I didn’t have dealings Telstra (I’m not an old lady) and he said “yes ma’am I can hear you are an elderly lady, and I want to help you, now open a browser on your computer and type in show my IP address”.
I said “what computer? I just told you I am an elderly lady. I don’t have an IP address”
He said “well do what I just said but on your phone”
I told him I am extremely old and I don’t think I can do it on my rotary phone”
He then started to get verbally aggressive and started yelling at me.
I could hear others in the background also yelling at people.
I had enough entertaining this guy so I went to my kitchen and got a whistle from the drawer and blew it in his ear several times before hanging up.
So, I dialed this number back because I was curious, and guess what? Total SCAMMERS! They’ve got multiple numbers starting with 0480 852...better blocking them all quickly!
