Understanding the Scam Behind 0432 784 890

The phone number 0432 784 890 / 0432784890 has garnered attention from users who report it as a scam. Specifically, victims have flagged this number for engaging in fraudulent activities related to the sale of a vehicle, particularly a blue FG Ute. Here we delve into the details surrounding this number and offer insights into how to protect yourself from such scams.

Unpacking the Reports

Recent reviews from individuals have painted a concerning picture regarding the behaviour associated with this number. It seems the individual using this number is masquerading under false pretenses, employing someone else’s identity to facilitate deceptive vehicle sales. Victims claim that the seller uses counterfeit documentation and encourages victims to transfer funds to an account which they believe belongs to the fraudster.

Identifying the Scam

  • Fabricated Offers: Users have reported that the purported seller does not own the vehicle, instead leveraging a non-existent or stolen ID.
  • Complicated Transactions: Victims are often enticed into splitting payments, which can lead to distrust and the feeling of urgency to complete the transaction.
  • Suspicious Insurance Papers: Supposed documentation, like registration details, are provided superficially to create a sense of legitimacy.

Additionally, reports suggest that the seller has been promoting this vehicle as being located in remote areas to discourage potential buyers from conducting in-person inspections. A common tactic is showcasing affiliates, such as a “sister in a car transporting company,” to validate these misleading claims.

Steps to Take

If you receive a call from 0432 784 890:

  • Do Not Engage: Disconnect the call if you suspect it to be fraudulent.
  • Report It: Report the number to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and your bank, especially if you have shared any financial information.
  • Investigate Further: Utilize services like Reverseau or a reverse phone lookup to check for additional information on the caller.

Always remember, if an offer seems too good to be true, it often is. Stay vigilant and cautious when confronted with unsolicited calls or messages regarding purchases, especially high-value items like vehicles.

Yes, this is true, the guy that owns this number is using fake I'd (someone elses drivers licence) - D peddie. Not his mobile just goes to message bank. The account number bsb: 084707 acc: 716499097 is his own bank account, to whichhe asked the funds to be deposited to. QPS is investigating, and this person is so stupid to get the $ deposited into his own account, so they'll catch up with him soon. He's been advertising a blue fg ute and claims it's in Cloncurry or a remote area as so you organise fir the car to be transported, he says he has a sister that works for a car carrying company that can do it, so we agreed half the money for transporting and the car and final oddment on arrival. He sent through cut and pasted rego renewal (but only compared to an original after the fact, and a security check(which shows the car is legit) but doesn't have owners name or details on it. This car is rego - 069XVP, I also think he owns this ute, as the security check you have to pay fir to get one done, unless that's a copy of the person that hes scammed and using it, im not sure.

The guy lives on the Gold Coast, perhaps helensvale area. The police will find him as all they have to do is find out off the bank who the bank account belongs to and that the person. The bank will not reimburse me, so I will applying for a victim's compensation to recover my money.

This car was up for sale on an eBay ad. Seemed legit.
