I received a call from someone claiming they could process a refund for goods I had paid for over the phone. However, they refused to provide the security number from the back of my card. I suspect this is a scam, as they may dispute the purchase with my bank after the retailer issues a refund.
This caller claimed to have purchased goods from our company and wanted to arrange a pickup. Later, they called back requesting a refund, stating they "hadn't realized" our store was located in a different state. When we refused to process the refund onto a different credit card than the one used for purchase, the caller became defensive and hung up. We have found that this individual has made similar attempts at refunds with two of our other stores.
