This is not only a fraudulent attempt to elicit personal information but also a tactic is frequently employed by scammers aiming to trick unsuspecting individuals.

How the Scam Works

This morning I received this fake text ‘ E-TAG-BlLLlNG:

Your E-tag wasn't picked up, so your trip couldn't be charged to your account. Pay now to avoid getting a penalty notice.’ with a link.

It is 100% a scam as I do not have any etag registered to my name or phone number, as well as having over $30 in my dad’s etag (which I have been using) also we have not driven on the citylink in a few months.
