Received a call from "6498276230 New Zealand" - they have called a couple of times this week but I didn't answer as we know no-one in New Zealand. When I checked the number on the phone, another call had come in at exactly the same time, from 61411938000. We don't respond to these calls.

I received a call from +10061397407780 on the 13/08/2015 at 4:08pm Melbourne Australia time. Its now 4:20pm. Such a strange number. Answered but nothing but dead air. Took phone away from my ear to read caller ID on phone screen for about 5 seconds. Put phone back to ear to hear recorded femennin voice say "Good Bye". Searched Google for 10061397407780 and got only one response which lead me to this page with 3 responces from others who have had similar experiences in the last month. I haven't had a txt sent to me and I do not want to call it back. Have checked the phone balance on my phone to see if its some kind of scam but can't say as yet if its cost me anything. Really pissed Optus though. I have always had an unlisted/private mobile number with them until about a year and a half ago when they gave it to a company called Sensis which they informed me about a few months after it happened. They apologized and offered to give me a new number but I declined as it is quite the hassle contacting everyone you have ever known and giving them a new number to reach you on and there is always the possibility that someone will be missed and they would never be able to call you again. Since Optus made their mistake I almost weekly and sometimes repeated times weekly got cold calls from folk who are only doing their job which is to try and sell me something. Most of the time I am very understanding and tell them no thank you after listening to the sales pitch. Really was hoping after a year these calls would stop but this is probably wishful thinking. But this is probably about the third or fourth time I've had a phone call with nothing but dead air on the other end when I answer. Have called the "good folk" at Optus but they are no help as all they can do is give me a new number. I think I will save this page and check back from time to time. Maybe someone will have more info one day they can update the rest of us curious folk about what its all about.

Got a missed call from this number, also got a notifying text. I don't know how they ve got my number. There re lots of scams around so I always search the Internet to find out whether it is worth calling any strange number back. Thanks Peter for the warning.

Bogus number. The caller uses a 1800 number (originating from overseas) to connect to mobile and immediately sends a message with this number. Ring it and you get a message that the number has been disconnected. It's definitely a spam/fraudster call.
