So, here’s the deal – Amaysim seems to be forwarding my messages to an overseas number and charging me for it! I racked up extra charges for 6 minutes of an international call I never even made! Not checking messages again!

I looked up this number on Reverse Australia. It is the full number for Optus voice mail. It is the number you ring to retrieve messages. I am overseas at the moment and got a message from Optus to say I had clocked up over $50 in roaming calls. I haven't made any calls. The phone has only rung 3 times while on holiday. Every time someone rings me and I don't answer, Optus charges me $1.50 for my phone ringing and $1.50 for the call to be diverted to voicemail. None of the callers has left a message. Furthermore, my phone has only rung 3 times, I didn't answer. Optus are charging me for phantom calls I never received. There is going to be a fight when I get back to Australia.

I am getting billed on my mobile phone for this number. I did not call it. Also getting billed for another number calling that number which I am now in dispute with Amaysim over. When I call that number from another phone I get the message its not in use.

My suspicion is its the phone company trying to use up my credit. Who else could use a number yet have it as a disconnected number at the same time.

I have stopped voicemail on my phone to prevent further charges.
