Possible scam: Texted to say they were a driver from Allied Express and when they knew I'd be home and didn't give authority to leave the delivery, they backed out.

"Hi good morning.

I’m an Allied Express driver.

I got your parcel to deliver today between 8.30-15.30.

Please let me know is there anybody at home?

If not and you want me to leave outside or somewhere safe please send me quick SMS for Authority To Leave without Signature.

Without SMS I can’t leave without signature .

Sending me SMS is not Mandatory. If I didn’t receive SMS then I’ll follow instructions from the parcel and I’ll take it back to Port Melbourne.

Thank you".

I replied: Yes.

"Hi. Sorry please disregard my previous message. I couldn't fit your stock in today, there will be another driver delivering it. Thank you.".

I imagine if given authority to leave, this driver would take the package and assume the recipient would believe it had been stolen from the porch.
