Got a call from this number just now! I knew something dodgy was going on and said owner is not available to talk, call later. Thanks god I googled his number! I knew it. Claiming to be same as all of the above comments!
I wonder what to tell him when he calls back...
I received a missed call from this number and tried calling back to "this mailbox is full, try again later"......don't think so!
I got a call from this number today. A male was claiming to be from the NSW policeman's gazette or something similar. I had received a similar call some months ago from a female claiming to be from the policewoman's gazette so I knew all about this scam. He asked if I was the manager of my business. I pre-empted the guy and said basically I would not have the budget to advertise in their gazette. He said " Oh you've heard of us have you? " And seemed very pleased lol. I told him I would have to politely decline on this occasion as I could not justify the cost of advertising in such a small publication, being a sole trader. I guess there will be one gullible person out of 100 or so, so those are pretty good odds and I suppose it pays not to give up if you're a scammer. Caveat emptor everyone else !
Got a call from a male claiming he was from the Federal Police asking for me to book a spot for advertising in a booklet for awareness about children and ice and that if I wanted a good price I had to confirm it today. Informed him it was not a business but a hobby and I'm not interested. They seem to be trolling Facebook. Told me would ring back at a later date. Thought it was fishy and didn't give him any details.
I just got a call from the same number- he is still pushing the scheme/scam and asked for advertising in a magazine for Australian Federal Police Fishing (phone dropped out badly). Called himself Charlie.
Just got a call from this number saying vic police... Asked if the business owner was around... I said no...(surely vic police would know who they are calling?)....he said he'd try back later... I asked what it was about & he said something about helping kids but rambled off that he'd try again.
I also just got a call from this number on my mobile. “Hi, it’s Lachlan. How are you?” He wanted to know if I was still the owner of a business (I used to be, but no longer operating). When I said no (and not going to elaborate further because I don’t know who this person is…) there was a big pause and he said “Okay, thank you for your time and sorry to bother you.” There was also a lot of background noise that sounded like other people talking (I.e. call centre).
Dodgy to the core.
Received a call on my mobile from this number. Voice on the other end was clearly an automated/voice-recognition 'robot' that said "Hi! It's Lachlan. How are you?".
