Eventually they will slow down, it takes weeks but if you ever answer, or even cancel the call or divert to voicemail, they take that to mean that someone is at the phone paying attention and they are guaranteed to keep calling back. It's all automated. The only way to make them stop *eventually* is to never answer, never respond, just let it ring out.

I turned off the voicemail because the Mandarin-speaking fake visa scam calls did seem to think the voicemail was the same as answering, but these Indians never leave a message or voicemail even if it is switched on.
