Analysis of User Reports
The majority of reviews indicate that the caller often claimed to represent AGL, a well-known energy provider in Australia. However, the structure of these calls raises red flags. Users noted that:
- The callers frequently appeared pushy, attempting to strong-arm victims into listening to offers.
- There was a notable presence of background noise typical of call centres, suggesting that these calls might be mass-dialled.
- Several callers reported an Indian accent, indicating that this could be an overseas telemarketing operation.
- There have been bizarre claims made during conversations, such as the suggestion that victims record their responses in a way that misrepresents what they are agreeing to.
Identifying the Scam
This number is likely part of a broader electrical accounts scam that manipulates consumers by offering non-existent discounts or rates. A common tactic is to make the call feel humanitarian, using persuasive language about feeding families, which may coax unsuspecting individuals into compliance. Therefore, it’s crucial to remain sceptical of unsolicited calls regarding energy services.

What Our Users Reviewed
The Caller's demeanor was 'pushy', trying to sell discounted electricity rates and she said she was from AGL at first. Alot of noise in the back ground, tried shutting the conversation down but she kept persisting, in the end, I said thank you and hung up.
3rd time call from this new number. Call centre scam around Electricity account. They even went down the track to say - give it a go and think about us feeding our families and the previous person I spoke to is apparently a single mother who also need to feed her baby. All have heavy indian accent. Asking to record a message to compare rates - but they were "apparently" giving me discount rates - but on the recording do not say it is giving me a discount - only say you are comparing rates. Even when I mentioned - why would I not record that you are giving me a new rate - she said just say compare and I will get the new rate. I said I am not lying she said that AGL law to get the new rate - lol.
The caller knew my name and began asking questions about my solar panels. When I stated that I wasn't comfortable answering questions from an unknown caller, they hung up abruptly.
