Had a call claiming to be from Commonwealth Bank Security Department today asking me if I had made a particular transaction - I'm not a Commonwealth bank customer and when I asked to confirm what they said the caller hung up.
I’ve been bombarded with calls from this number all day. When I answered, the caller said they were from Commonwealth Bank Cyber Security and claimed someone was trying to access my account from California. I insisted that I would contact my bank directly, but he insisted he was a bank representative and then hung up. I contacted my local branch, and they confirmed it was a scam, and my account is secure.
This caller left a message claiming I have an outstanding online shopping bill of $3,999, but I do not have any such bill. Therefore, I will not be calling them back.
