I've also had a call from someone with an Indian accent threatening dire consequences unless me or my solicitor calls 02 8310 7630 x323 and asks for a Jason Matthews. Obviously a scam.
A guy with a Indian accent wants us to ring Jason Matthews on 02 83107630 ask for extension 323 something about tax evasion from the Australian Tax Office .
Just received a call from this guy as well on my answering machine. He did not use any of our names at all which made me suspicious straight away. I found this page really helpful. Also I use an accountant and had no advice from her so immediately thought it had to be a scam.
I have reported this to Telstra who are now getting the police involved following this blog I got the same message to call Jason Mathews on 02 8310 7630with the same indian accent and a lovely threat against my life They did not even have my name right Make sure you call Telstra 1800 805 906 to report it Telstra tells me that the police are catching these guys inludcing their links in Australia and they are even working with overseas law enforcement agencies.
So if you immature idiots overseas are reading this think about your jail term because they are closing in on you and you friends in Australia.
This caller left a message for me to call back & speak with a Jason Matthews. This guy had a strong Indian accent. Deleted message straight away. These guys are creeps!
Have had two calls from this number, both to an answering machine, laughed out loud both times.
Aside from the heavy Indian accent, the aggressive language and demeanour, and the ridiculous misinformation, the person/persons responsible quite clearly have no idea of how the ATO conduct business.
I have incurred a tax debt before, and even though now settled, this is absolutely not how the legitimate authorities went about it.
So far I have received 3 calls on my answering machine, from this number. I have never returned the calls.
As far back as last year November there was a similar message, which I ignored.
Also got a call.... Guy with Indian accent. Saying there the taxation office asking for money or you'll be chanrged for fruad. Smells like a scam !
I have received messages on my answering machine from 0283107630 by a person with Indian accent. He states that I am in trouble for fraud and that I should be afraid for my future life. He advised me to call above number and ask for ext 323 and ask for Jason Madden. I tried to call back and the phone was busy. I have reported nuisance calls to my phone provider but I have to document at least ten calls before they will investigate.

Yes - got the same voicemail 028310 7630 ext 323 Jason Mathews. Rang them back and spoke to Kevin who tried to put me through and then said Jason wasn't in and then progressed to ask me my name, date of birth and tax file number. After my name I said no not prepared to do that at which point he hung up. Indian accent, noisy background, definitely saying from the ATO. The other strange thing is that as I was talking to him the recording of his voice was going straight onto my voicemail! So I have the original message and then the recording of what questions he asked me. Rang ATO and told them - they don't leave numbers other than 13 or 1800 numbers to ring back on. Scammers - should be jailed.
Was called by Dearnne, telling me that I was being prosecuted as a result of them receiving a legal complaint from someone. Told them to call my accountant. They told me that I was liable for tax evasion and miscalculations, not him (who did the calculation). As Dearnne couldn't speak English correctly I told him that I had already been called by his office and that the police were looking into it.
Received the same message. Caller was a male person with a possibly Indian accent. The call did upset a member of my family and is totally off. I fail to see how these idiots can benefit from this behaviour.
